penllawen: This is the watch Danielle gave me during my last visit to Indianapolis. As you can see, it has two dials, so it can keep track of two timezones at once — mine and her’s. In a little less than sixty five hours I’ll be pacing up and down at International Arrivals. I’ll receive her usual “I’m on the ground!” text message. That’s when I’ll take that watch and wind the lower face on by five hours until they show the same time. Welcoming Danielle to my timezone, my country and to my — no, our — home. I’m going to keep it like that, with both faces showing the same time, as a reminder of how damn lucky I am that she was willing to fly four thousand miles for me. A reminder to never take proximity for granted.
